Alif
Alif Terms of Use
Effective 23 September 2026
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of Alif, an educational app provided by Deen Studios L.L.C-FZ. A parent or legal guardian must review and accept these terms before allowing a child to use Alif.
By downloading, accessing or using Alif, the adult accepting these terms agrees to them for themselves and, where permitted, on behalf of the child using the app. If you do not agree, do not use Alif.
1 About Alif
Alif provides interactive activities intended to introduce children to Arabic letters, letter forms and related Islamic learning foundations. Features, lesson order and available chapters may change as the service develops.
2 Parent or guardian responsibility
- An adult is responsible for setting up Alif and deciding whether it is appropriate for the child.
- Young children should use Alif with reasonable adult supervision.
- The adult is responsible for device settings, microphone permissions, internet access and any app-store account used to install Alif.
- Alif is a learning aid and is not a substitute for a qualified teacher, religious scholar, school curriculum or professional advice.
3 Permission to use Alif
Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use Alif for private, non-commercial educational use on devices you own or control, in accordance with the applicable app-store rules.
4 Acceptable use
You must not:
- copy, sell, sublicense, rent or commercially exploit Alif except where the law expressly permits;
- reverse engineer, bypass security, interfere with operation or attempt unauthorised access, except where such restriction is prohibited by law;
- use Alif unlawfully, fraudulently or in a way that harms another person;
- introduce malware, automated traffic or content that disrupts the service; or
- misrepresent Alif’s content as professional, academic or religious certification.
5 Educational content
We aim to provide age-appropriate and carefully reviewed educational content. Learning outcomes vary between children, and we do not guarantee that use of Alif will produce a particular level of fluency, pronunciation, memorisation or religious knowledge. Parents should raise content concerns with us so they can be reviewed.
6 Microphone and device features
Some activities may request microphone access so the child can practise speaking. Microphone permission is optional and can be controlled through device settings. Alif is designed so a child is not permanently blocked if speaking is unavailable or not used. Audio recordings used by the Speak activity are not uploaded to our servers or retained by us.
7 Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how Alif processes information, including limited pseudonymous analytics and broad age-band information selected by a parent. The Privacy Policy forms part of these terms and is available at: https://deen-studios.com/alif/privacy
8 Ownership
Alif and its software, characters, artwork, audio, lessons, branding and other content are owned by or licensed to Deen Studios L.L.C-FZ and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms do not transfer ownership to you.
9 Availability and changes
Alif may be released as a test or early-access service. We may add, change, suspend or remove features, lessons or access where reasonably necessary for development, security, maintenance, legal compliance or operational reasons. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability, but we will take reasonable care in operating the service.
10 Third-party platforms and links
Downloading Alif through Apple App Store or Google Play is also subject to the applicable store terms. Alif may contain links that take an adult to external services. We do not control third-party services and their own terms and privacy policies apply.
11 Feedback
Parents may choose to send feedback. You grant us permission to use non-confidential feedback to improve Alif without payment or attribution. Do not submit a child’s personal information, photographs, recordings or other sensitive information through feedback channels.
12 Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, Alif is provided as available. We do not make promises beyond those expressly stated in these terms. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or guarantees that cannot legally be excluded, including applicable consumer rights.
13 Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable. Subject to those protections, Deen Studios L.L.C-FZ is not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss, loss caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, or loss arising from misuse of Alif. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from or relating to Alif will not exceed the greater of the amount paid for Alif during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and AED 100. This limitation does not affect mandatory consumer rights.
14 Ending use
You may stop using Alif and uninstall it at any time. We may suspend or end access where use materially breaches these terms, creates a security or legal risk, or where the service is discontinued. Provisions that by their nature should continue after termination will remain in effect, including ownership, disclaimers and liability provisions.
15 Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to Alif, applicable law or our operations. We will publish the updated terms at the same public URL and update the date above. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request renewed acceptance.
16 Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the federal laws of the United Arab Emirates and the laws applicable in the Emirate of Dubai. Subject to any mandatory rights available under local consumer law, the courts of Dubai will have jurisdiction over disputes arising from or relating to these terms or Alif.
Nothing in this section removes any mandatory consumer rights or any right to bring a claim in another court where that right cannot lawfully be restricted.
